From Kochi Airport
The airport nearest to Kurisumala Ashram is Kochi (Nedumbassery) in Kerala. Taxis from the airport can take you directly to the Ashram. It will be a 120 km trip that would take around 3 hours.
The suggested taxi route is as follows: Nedumbassery > Angamaly > Perumbavoor > Muvattupuzha > Thodupuzha > Erattupetta > Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop.
The suggested bus route from the airport is as follows:
Nedumbassery > Angamaly > Perumbavoor > Muvattupuzha > Thodupuzha > Pala > Erattupetta > Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop.
Direct buses are available from Angamaly to Pala. However, you must plan a bus change in Pala. Buses to Vagamon/Pullikkanam/Kattappana from Pala or Erattupetta pass through Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop. The Ashram is located 1.5 Km. from Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop. It is about a 20-minute uphill walk from the bus stop to the Ashram. Instead of exiting the bus at Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop, one can continue to Vagamon bus stop and hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the Ashram—thereby avoiding the uphill walk. Those coming from Ernakulam can get a bus from Ernakulam to Vyttilla (“Mobility Hub”) and from there proceed to Vagamon/Pullikkanam/Kattappana via Pala – Erattupetta as above. Direct buses from Kaloor to Vagamon are available but are less frequent.
From Kottayam Railway Station
If you are traveling from Kottayam (the nearest railway station), get a bus to Pala, preferably from the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (known locally as K.S.R.T.C.) bus station. This bus station is located approximately 2 Km. from the Koffayam railway station. It is suggested to take a taxi or auto rickshaw to the K.S.R.T.C bus station. Ask for a direct bus to Vagamon. If you do not get a direct bus that goes to Vagamon and passes through the Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop, then you will have to change buses in Pala.
If you are traveling from Tamil Nadu state (to the East of Kerala) the suggested bus route is as follows: Tamil Nadu > Kumily > Kuttikkanam > Elappara > Vagamon > Vazhikkadavu Bus Stop.
